Volunteers are the Rebuilding Together Long Beach’s lifeblood. RTLB depends on its volunteers, who represent a wide range of skills, experience, and industries. By lending an extra set of hands on a workday, each volunteer provides a unique contribution. And the effort is immensely rewarding (read volunteer testimonials).
There are many ways you can contribute to rebuilding lives in the greater Long Beach area. So if you're ready to get started, it's easy.
Workdays
We need all levels of help: Skilled trades, general handiwork, and event logistics. Licensed trades can assist with electrical, plumbing, roofing, masonry, advanced carpentry. If you are handy, you can replace windows, repair doors, paint, and landscape. Event logistics volunteers assist with sign-in, monitoring supplies, and organizing refreshments.
We have two workdays each year – National Rebuilding Day (the last Saturday in April) and Make A Difference Day (the fourth Saturday in October).
Committees
These committees keep all parts of RTLB up and running year round: Site Selection, Fundraising and Grant writing, Hospitality, Construction and House (project) Captains, Public Relations, Administration, and Volunteers, .
Generally, the commitment involves attendance at the monthly Board of Directors meeting (third Tuesday of the month) and meetings scheduled by the Committee Chair. We welcome all types and levels of involvement. You simply decide what works best for you.
Board of Directors
Dedicated committee members are eligible to join the Board of Directors. Elections are held in July, and there are no term limits. Directors must attend monthly Board meetings and vote on the various tasks of RTLB, such as budget, selections on worksite recipients, and so forth. Directors also serve as chairs of the committees. The Executive Board (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary) are all volunteer positions.
