Valeria Laureta asked Rebuilding Together Long Beach volunteers to fix her roof, a few electrical issues, and other small issue with her home of 36 years. Since her only income is Social Security, she easily qualified for our help to make her home safe, secure, dry and healthy. Several volunteers spent a Saturday fixing the roof and the other handyman repairs. Valeria was very grateful when we were done and sent thank you notes we all enjoyed.

Just a few days after the work was complete, we got a panicked call from Valeria. Her hot water heater started leaking and she had to shut off the hot water valve – she was taking cold showers! The Rebuilding Together Long Beach Board of Directors responded to her request for help by voting via email on emergency funding for a new hot water heater. Our support is not limited to one day, and we can respond quickly when emergencies arise.
