US Vets is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help military veterans and their families assimilate back into society by providing housing, counseling, career development and comprehensive support. There are eleven US Vets sites, with the Long Beach site being the largest within the Century Villages at Cabrillo campus.

Over 70 volunteers swarmed the facility ready to participate in a challenging yet rewarding day. There were three main tasks: refresh the large sheds at the entrance to Villages at Cabrillo, paint the interior of the US Vets office, and support a sustainable living program by improving farming beds for ongoing vegetable growth.

CSULB students from various club sport teams tackled the multi-level storage sheds for painting and cleaning. Securing and filling the raised vegetable beds and painting the US Vets offices were projects for the skilled-trades students from Long Beach City College. Everyone jumped at the chance to learn some new skills and get their hands dirty (as well as their hair, clothing, and shoes). Special thanks go out to the PIMCO organization for providing funding, Trader Joe's, AC Catering and RM Hasson paint for the generous donations that made this workday a success.

By the end of the day, the 1000+ residents of the Villages at Cabrillo were greeted with a facility make-over that would make anyone proud.
