This event occurs annually on the fourth Saturday in October.
The next Make A Difference Day is October 27, 2012
Rebuilding Together Long Beach participates in the largest national day of helping others:
Make a Difference Day. This event is sponsored annually by USA WEEKEND Magazine and its 800 carrier newspapers. This day is the most encompassing national day of helping others – a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Over 3 million volunteers across the country will rally to make a difference in their communities. Thousands of projects from coast-to-coast involving corporations, communities, non-profit organizations, entire states and individual Americans demonstrate the power of people to make change.
Rebuilding Together Long Beach participates each year by rehabilitating 2 to 5 sites. Generally, this workday focuses on sites that do not require as many technically skilled volunteers as National Rebuilding Day. Volunteer groups are needed to bring energy, enthusiasm, and the willingness to tackle any task with big hearts. The scope of work may include painting, cleaning, landscaping, power washing, etc.
Since 2001 we have been proud to partner with Student Life and Development at California State University, Long Beach. Each fall, Brett Waterfield and the SLD staff provide over 100 volunteers. Other volunteer groups for Make a Difference Day include Long Beach City College, the World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA) Long Beach and Molina Health Care.
